I have been contemplating cancelling my Amazon membership for probably a year now. What would life be like without the comfort of 2-day free shipping on anything I want or need? How much friction would it add to have to pick up my keys, go out to my car, drive to the store, look for the thing, buy the thing, get it in my car, drive it back home?
A few nights ago I wanted the Netflix documentary “Buy Now” and not going to lie, I feel pretty rotten about it. I have totally bought more, wasted more, etc. at the hands of free shipping, online shopping, and overconsumption.
Something that really interested me was the segment on clothing. And how our clothing is mostly plastic rather than natural fibers. I did some light googling and even in-person shopping at TJ Maxx last night, and was astonished that no clothing labels I looked at were any more than 25% cotton (some had 0% natural materials). I think the area I would be most challenged to give up are my spandex / stretchy material leggings (specifically my Lululemon Aligns), but I’m determined that the next article of clothing I buy, I’m going to try to make sure it’s some natural fiber instead of polyester, spandex, etc. If anyone has recommended brands that are the real deal, please drop it in the comments!
That’s my little thoughts for now. Toodaloo
